Hi Folks,
Any help on this would be appreciated.

I have a 2015 Versa with 200,000+ miles - it's been a great car.
Primarily hwy miles.

Anyway about two months ago we came out to a dead car. tried a
jump etc - all the usual, checked starter etc. Nothing.
For some reason - still don't know why, I disconneted the battery
and reconnected it the next day - and it started without hesitation.
Drove a few thousand miles - no problems - came out one morning
dead - disconnected the battery next day fine.

Any ideas or suggestions would really be appreciated. Afraid we're
going to be stranded somewhere for the night - or worse yet - it doesn't
start after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery.

Any help/thoughts appreciated

The ground cable attachment on N17/E12 Versas is a powder-coated bracket at the transmission end, and they're infamous for losing good contact and causing all sorts of weird issues. Something to look at.

We had tried the ground (sanded the contact) for the engine? ( see picture) - no luck.
Is what you're mentioning a different ground? Not the most mechanically inclined.

No, that's an auxiliary strap for the block only. The main ground is underneath the car on the transmission housing. Follow the ground cable from the battery negative to its other end and you'll find it.
