No it is common knowledge that the JWT computer runs rich. They probably do not want the liability of someone blowing up their motor.
Yes, the JWT program is safe. Typical A/F ratios are 12-13 across the power band. Check out the dyno charts here. My car shows no signs of running too rich; the spark plugs always look normal.

You can get a few more horsepower by leaning the mixture. The cost is rather high what with purchasing an engine management system and the dyno [with a wideband oxygen sensor] time to tune it.

Why not just raise the boost? It will get more power safely (so long as you don't exceed the capabilities of the injectors and/or MAF).

I've always guessed that JWT ran closer to 11-12 A/F. Not sure about the non-turbo apps, but the turbo programs are said to be really rich, you have to have SAFC to tune it better, it is 100% an issue of liability. Same reason why they typically won't raise the rev limit above 7950 (or 7850, something like that). You have to specifically state that 8,000RPM is your desired redline (such as my car).

Guess I'll see how it runs when it comes in. I have a friend that owns a dyno. I'll be posting my numbers and wideband results on the SR20 forum. I plan to do 3 runs before and 3 after the installation of my ECU. After that, if needed, I will decide on purchasing an SAFC.

what tells you its rich.....how old is your O2 sensor? Do you have an a/f guage? do you have an adjustable FPR? (if so turn it down) How's the MAF--ever done a re-ground on it?

one more thing--if anyone else knew how to flash a nissan ECU, they would be well know, because they would be selling there product in competiton to JWT
