Went to change spark plugs in my 2005 Sentra and the third one broke off above the threads(below the hex lands). Nissan said they would only replace the whole head. Another mechanic said he could pull the head and send to a machine shop and remove the threaded shank.
Anyone else had this problem? The top of the plug, along with the electrode came out clean and I pretty sure nothing fell into the cylinder. I wonder if an easyout would work or do I need to go ahead and pull the head?
Turning out to be a very expensive tune up.

Well, I guess it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Had to pull the head and go to a machine shop to remove the threaded shank. Towing, rental car, and mechanic a little under a $1,000. NGK Spark Plug Co. said just use an e-z out but that didn't work. Anyway, I really appreciate all the help from the forum.

So all that was left was the threads in the head?
