I don't know if anyone's thought of this before, but what about a GA16DE + N2O? I'm curious how much this thing can take before it blows up, and what it is that blows up first. Ok so maybe you don't have to destroy the engine, but identify weak points and go into building up the engine for a nice shot. I've just become curious because generally it's said a 55 shot is best on a stock engine, but I was talking to someone who ran a 100 shot for a while with no problems. What do you think?

The most experianced person I know, when it comes to NOS and the GA is Mike Saiki of Motivational Engineering. ( motivational1 ). Drop him a line, I'm sure he could enlighten you on his experiances.

Just because someone says they put 100 shot on doesn't mean it makes 100 horsepower. It may have made 70 horsepowere if he was lucky. With a 100 shot the car should run in the high 13's. I doubt he did. I ran a 14.7 with a 50 shot. When I used the kit they way I got it from NOS and set at 50 horsepower it only ran 15.3. With some playing with fuel jetting only I was able to get it down to 14.7. I ran 72 bottles through my GA16DE. I've had no problems with the set up. You shouldn't attempt to run 100 shot without custom rods and pistons. You will also need a direct port system. There is much more than bolting on the kit and putting 100 shot jets in it.

My 50 shot when finished made 65 horsepower to the wheels.

I know the shot and HP gained are not equal. Besides, I was really just curious, I'm not going to get a kit. If I did I wouldn't be able to autox any more, they won't let any nitrous equipped car even in the parking lot to watch around here. Oh, and I'm almost certain this guy had a direct port system.

Hey Mike,
Im currently building the motor I blew- I was running it too lean and ended up cracking an exhaust valve. Im running a 50 shot and its made 143 at the wheels. Now that Im a little wiser I jacked my afc up 40% before I run it and Ive gone through 4 bottles with no problems whatsoever :) The new motor is having alot of work done to it, Im going to run higher compression with direct port, weve got it all sketched out- all thats left to do is build it. Did you build a Ga16de? or even if its an sr what kind of mods did you do and what size shot are you running- Im just kinda being inquisitive so I dont make any mistakes while Im putting this thing back together.

I've built lots of motors. I have not built my GA16DE yet. From my experience you will need to put a good set of rods like Crowers and some good forged pistons. With these 2 things you should be able to run 100 shot. It would also be nice to find a metal head gasket and o-ring the block. You could then run 150 shot. I built a Type R Integra and ran 250 shot with a progressive controller. It made lots of power but was very hard to get tuned. It eventually melted 2 pistons. Now we have 180 shot and everything is okay.

That sounds about the way Im going. JE is making pistons for me since I cant find any for this application. Right now my crank is being knife edged and the head work is being completed, I was figuring on running a 100 shot. I figured on sticking with the 1.6 since there is so much out for it now, and Id like to stick in the class I autox in here in Ft myers. What kind of compression ratio am I safe running with a 100 shot? Its 8.0:1 right now, with direct port can I go as high as 10 ? Or is that so completely retarded that its out of the question? I was figuring that with forged pistons and rods I could probably get away with it since the only time Im going to use nitrous was when I ran 8th and 1/4 mile. I was getting ready to order the pistons this week after x-mas and I cant seem to get a straight answer from anyone so hopefully you can lead me in the right direction-lol

I would go with 10.5 or 11.0 to 1 and use race gas when using nitrous. 100 octane should be fine. Also take about 4 dgreees of timing out. The higher compression will make more power on the motor. I use a dedicated fuel system with its on resevoir and pump so I can use 92 octane in the regular tank for the motor and 110 octane is used as the fuel supply for the nitrous. It's cheaper than having to run straight 100 octane in your regular tank when you go to the track and use your nitrous.

Cool man, thanks for the info- you probably just saved me a big detination problem- Im hoping the pistons will be here within the month then all I have to do is send it to naples to get balanced and I can put it back together- If I run into any problems youll definetly be one of the first people I contact-- thanks man
