Hey guys, I just picked myself up a 1992 Sentra XE 2 door locally for $400, lady said it leaked oil... yeah just a bit.
Turns out the lower timing chain guide snaped into about 3 pieces and the chain had slapped a nice sized hole in the side of the front cover. After learning this, i was boggled I even drove the car home from the lady's house. As of current I said screw it and pulled the entire engine out with tranny(much easier to work on.), was going to replace the front cover, and reseal tranny etc. This also gives me a nice chance to clean up all that crap buildup and grease from years spent leaking.
As it sits now, ive replaced the lower guides, im pretty sure that the timing is not messed up (I had to shift the idler to get upper bolt on lower guide.)
Here's my questions.
Where can i see a picture or read a description to make sure my engine's timing marks line up, before i put this all back together.
And How do i "reset" the cam timing chain tensioner. the small 2 bolt half moon looking deal. Want to ask before i stick this sucker in a vice.
