Hi there. My key (the kind that costs one arm and one leg to replace) is broken. It works, it is in my possession but the black plastic top piece that actually allows you to put it on a key ring, is broken. Is there anyway I can have just that part replaced? The dealer is telling me I need to buy a new key and have it cut (59.99) then have it programmed (44.00). All I want to do is put it on a keyring so I don't lose it. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Audrey

what kind of car/truck?

most normal keys can be copied at your local hardware store, or a store like Wal-Mart can even do it

but if it has a chip in it, you're going to have to go thru the dealer

unfortunately you arent going to be able to get a new one without going thru a dealer, but if you have to go thru a dealer Greg V is the way to go
