Just wanted to say thanks to Shell Black for his good advice on the "Ultimate Engine Detailing" page. I actually went through with most of the work myself, and here are pictures to show:

BTW: Geocities doesn't allow linking of their websites through message boards, so to see these pics, you have to copy the link and paste it to your web browser ok? Ok.

Hope you like!

PS. My car is 100 percent stock; I'm very shocked at it's power though! (It won't be stock for long :p )

That is one of the cleanest engine bays I have ever seen. I assume it hasn't been clean by looking at all the rubber hoses and such. Amazing!

Click on the link then after the new browser window opens up go into the address bar (Netscape or Internet Explorer) and at the end of the address put a space in using your space bar then hit enter. This should load the image for you.

The Link

Hey everyone,

Thanks for all the feedback -- it's been a lot of elbow grease to get it that clean (keeping it there is also another story)

But yes, the link is this:

I think you'll find that his method is pretty good. Using a lot of simple green did it for me; and mothers metal polish for all the shiny metal. Also, go to Kragen or Pep Boys or something and get those blue shop towels... they're kinda expensive (2 something for a roll) but they are worth the convenience of just being able to throw them away -- plus, they last a really long time. You could use those things and they won't tear!

Thanks for the props, and keep drivin' hard!

I am so jealous right now you have no idea. in fact just before reading this i posted a thread complaining just how disgusted i am with my engine bay. the thread is "weathered" under 1.6 engine

i wonder if these tips would help with my car. for now i guess i'll have to settle for that classic antiqueing style: New England Winter White.
