ok i've got a 1990 240sx with a KA24e in it but yesterday the motor blew up and i was wondering is it possible to take a ka from a nissan hardbody to put in it. because i need a motor soon because i am moving and there is no way for me to get to school because i'm moving way away from the school so no can come get me. also are there any differences between the truck and car versions of the motor and if so what are they

thanks
Don

as long as its a ka-e to ka-e it should be simple, but doing a DOHC swap would be a big pain, its really up to you, i dont see why it wouldnt work, considering that its the same direction, and all that, try it out

Yeah, from my experience the subsystem shit is different. The truck KA24E has a larger power steering pump. I tried to take a truck pump for my 240SX KA24E when my PS pump cracked a year ago, but it didn't fit at all. Other than subsystems, it'll bolt right up perfectly. Just make sure you keep the blown KA on hand to look at wiring and stuff, and take any subsystem parts you might need. That sounds like fun.

yeah there is but ppl either want way too much money or the engine has lots of miles or its been driven very harshly and not maintained very well. the guy that had the car before me drove it like a maniac and never performed any routine maintainence like changing the oil and whatnot so thats why i'm in teh market for a better engine

also what about motor mounts and electrical harnesses will these have to be changed also and/or fabricated?
The engine will drop right into the 240SX crossmember. Just take the electrical harness from the truck. The 240SX bellhousing and transmission will bolt up to the KA truck block. The ECU must be from the truck, so you'll be able to use the truck's wiring harness. From there, it's just splicing whatever comes from the transmission (should be 2 wires). This swap will be really easy, and should only involve hand tools, assuming that's all you're doing. PM me if you have any troubles with the swap, maybe I'd be able to help. I had no problem with any of my engine stuff only using hand tools.
