Hey got a ? bout the lube for the manual trans. How do you remove the speedo pinion to add new gear lube? I read the fsm. It left me short. I can get the plug off and the little pinoin out but can not for the life of me figure how to finish the removal? I stoped there because I didn't want to break it. Any help would be great.

I had the same problem getting mine out. It REALLY sticks in there. I had pull and twist as hard as I could for a good 10 minutes. Note, wearing a glove helps with the plastic edges.

I have heard that you can fill the trans from a factory fill spot in front of the transmission. It's a plug that takes a 3/8's drive IIRC. That's lockite'd on there and I heard it's a pain to get out as well.

any which way to turn it or just back and forth til it comes loose?. I'll give it another go. their is that sensor in front thats held in by 2 screws is that what you are talking about. I was thinking maybe popping out the axle again and feeding a hose in through there but thats a lot of hassle and I wouldn't be able to fill it all the way. I'll squirt it with some lube too before I try again.

i would like to know how to drain the tranny fluid (gear lube if you wanna call it that :p) completely. cuz since ive personally owned the car i know theres a mixture of at least 4 or 5 completely different kinds of lubes

changin the gear oil is easy.. you just need to unscrew the plug at the bottom of the tranny and then use the side one to fill it back up... they are both hexagon patters i believe

NOOOOOOOOO do NOT fill it there, you will be putting lube in he CLUTCH HOUSING if you do...

The speedo gear needs to be twisted back and forth and pulled upwards at the same time. Once it come loose you have to rotate it so the plastic gear will clear the gearstack and come out. Use force but do not monkey it......
