Whats the longest trip you've ever gone on your SE-R? Longest that you've constantly ran the car?
The reason I bring it up its b/c I recently took my 02 Se-R all the way to Montana and back but was wondering about an issue it gave me. Basically leaving my car dead in Salt Lake City
...I started in Santa Barbara and arrived in San Francisco (5 hrs approx), picked up a friend so I spent about an hour there and from there went straight all the way Salt Lake City. (About 12 hrs from SF).
So after stopping a couple times to fill up along Arizona and Utah, during the day time by now and the temp was bout 100 degrees, I noticed the car was getting harder and harder to start. I did the 5 second rule and even then it wouldnt start til the 4th or 5th time. Finally after spending the night in Salt Lake City, the next morning we were ready to go and the car was a no start. The battery was fine and I had to find a stupid auto parts and replace my starter which to my delight, the car started fine again.
I noticed the car was starting fine during cool weather up north but it got harder to start again on the way back through Arizona. Now I've read up on the starting issues and was wondering if I pretty much just killed my starter because of the long trip, or it was just too hot for the car to handle or is this car problematic with electrical issues (like the 98 sentras?).
Ive noticed that sometimes while driving through hot weather in LA the car gets hard to start after its been driven a while. So back to my question, I was wondering if it was just the long drive and combined with the hot weather our starters are no good? Im asking because Id like to go on another long trip...but still debating taking the SE-R.
It was nice though getting all those compliments and looks along the drive
, apparently not many SE-Rs in Wyoming and Idaho haha (no offense). Thanks!
Oh yeah the car had about 54,000 miles at the start of the trip, had all the recalls done and oil change as well.
