I have a '97 Altima. There is a noise coming(not absolutely sure) from the left rear tire. It seems to change in frequency with speed. At about 20 and under, it slows down and sounds scratchy, at higher speeds, it is less noticeable and seems to be more of a knocking. My model has manual transmission(which I've heard is rare for the '97?)if that makes a difference. Thank you!

Check the rear brakes. The pads may be worn down to the metal backing. It's also possible that some foreign object is jammed in there.
