i recently picked up a nice 86...it starts and runs well but at any speed, in any gear, even sitting still....sudden, fast, quick acceleration is like turning the key off...take your foot off the gas and it goes on...no missing, etc...

i've driven it daily for a month or more and even at freeway speeds, it performs well unless you step on the gas pedal hard and quick

any suggestions would be helpful

86 that means it is prollie carb ...
so check vacumn adavnce and carb operation..

i have a throttle body on my truck...i recently check'd all vac lines and connections...all appears to be ok there..
