i just replaced my valve cover gaskets. at the same time i took off my compressor. when i started it up once i was finished; it now runs at an idle speed of around 1300 to 1400 rpms. is this because i took off the a/c compressor? also my temperature gauge is not working now. all vacuum lines are hooked back up and so are all of the wires. unless i am missing something. any help would be nice. thanks everbody...

The idle should be fine, if the IAC is working properly. The fact it idles high indicates this may not be the case. And look for broken or disconnected wires...
