Now that hotshot has finally released this kit, and we have all praised out deities, we now want more info.

As for us "auto" poeople, after have wet out self numerous times, are now wondering where that Turbo w.out intercooler went. We have seen the cone filter strapped on the side of it, and read it will be around, but Hotshot has neglected to put it on their site. Anyone "in-good" with them folk to let us know whats going on?

I figure maybe 40-45 more hp? without intercooler. The 200sx was still running the stock MAF and the injectors really arent giving it that much more gas and boost was only another psi.

Anyway, the Auto ga16det's are going to ride out, and kill some people all in the comfort have still having our arm on girl's shoulder, thigh, ... ;)

I had the same thing on my mind....except a little different. How much power will the non-intercooled (thought IT was stage 1) version put out? Will I kill my auto tranny with it? Wouldn't upgrading torque converter do more harm....I mean, will all the extra power---->extra heat-----? Maybe I missed something somewhere. But what about the stage one that is supposed to be non-intercooled? Also, how much upgrade from stock would I have to do to put in the non-intercooled one?

The upgraded stall converter will give you more heat but you can counteract that effect by adding an efficient transmission cooler. The temperatures also depend on how you drive, the power, temperatures outside, how long you've been driving the car without a stop, and the transmission fluid. I hear that Redline ATF is pretty good. On my next transmission fluid change I'll probably run Redline ATF. For performance, a Level 10 stall converter may have materials interally that strengthen the converter. Another thing is a 3,200rpm stall converter for a NA GA16DE would probably do 3,500-3,700rpm on a a turbo'd GA16DE. That is why you need to talk to Level 10 (sam) about the different setups and how much cooling will be needed. From looking at the GA16DET dyno, I'd recommend a 3,250-3,300 rpm stall converter (developed with Level 10 for the turbo). You'll have almost 85hp/125tq @ wheels off the line!

"This turbo can support up to 280hp and 20+ psi"

Ok now I know in NPM this was stated, but I dont think a company selling the kit should make this statement. Its kinda dangerous the way I see it. We dont know yet if the GA can handel that much boost and/or if it can "built" to take that. Here is my problem with that statement being on Hotshot's web site. If some unknowlageable person with a GA sees that, they may think "Wow I can get 280hp outta my car, sweet!" So they go out buy the kit and crank the boost to 20psi, and poof! Bye-bye GA(maybe?). I hope they are planning on telling customers about the limits of the GA. Or am I just taking to much from that statement??

"This turbo can support up to 280hp and 20+ psi" -- it doesnt say the engine can. I see nothing wrong with that statement.

I wonder if those specs are not turbo specific, meaning that the turbo itself is able to handle that much boost and psi. But I do agree that it should be made more clear as to what they are talking about. Does anyone know what all is needed in additon to the kit for the turbo and engine to live in harmony?

My point, they should be more clear about it. I am guessing that a company a good as Hotshot will probly tell cutomers or put in the instructions.

Finally some boost!!:D But what happen to the non-intercooled version?
Same question here. I guess they either gave up on it, or will allow the user to decide. I dunno.

From my personal point of view, I would prefer the non-intercooled...why? Well, I dont want the whole world to know that I have a turbo....and it leaves room for improvement. I dont want to kill the car yet. ;)

it says it comes with an intercooler. so why is everyone talking about a non-intercooled version?
either way, if I wanted to go turbo, I would get an sr20det for that money (well If I was able to save up $3200+, I would go for $5000 and do the sr20det swap).
I was under the impression that HS was releasing a starter kit, the cheaper "non-intercooled version" that on a later date can be upgradable to stage 2.
And yes, a $5000+ sr20det swap is one route, but proving that this lil' GA16 isn't just a grocery getter is another. It's all about the "respect, to some people thats more important":D

To me it is. Id rather have respect for something different than conform to other people. If you do that, you are the same as them, and you go by everyone else. Making your GA stand out and getting "props" for it, now that is a whole different thing, and I like that more.

(Brought to you buy another one liner from FAF)
