My wife took her X-Trail into our local dealer for an oil change yesterday and they performed a "hot oil flush" costing some Cdn$45, including 1/4 hr. labour.

She says that the service dept. there is really friendly, but I'm not sure what's up with such a flush when the truck only has less than 30,000 km on the engine.

Can anybody share their knowledge of this procedure?

The procedure is detailed HERE but for such a new car with so little kms, the dealer performed what is referred to as "scam service procedure" to increase the cost of labour, as it is not required at all, unless the type of oil being used is being changed from mineral to synthetic.
