I am trying to find an alternative for a JWT ECU upgrade as I am told that one is not available for my car (a '98 200sx se-r). One person advised me to look into installing an HKS Super AFR instead. Has anyone used one of these with an se-r? My main goal is to get rid of a dead area in my throttle response between 2000-3000 RPM.
Thanks

The thing is, after the afr is on, the ecu will see a difference in the ratio as measured by the exhaust and will edit its maps with a correction factor canceling out the afr.

You could constantly reset your ecu before it learns a long term correction factor, but that would be a PITA and still wouldn't prevent the short term factor.

You can use a 95-97 on a 98, you just need to rewire some stuff. Just like adding the HKS.

If the dead spot is the goal, and the car hasn't always had it, you could always try to find the cause and fix that?

Just don't want to see anyone spend money and not get what they want.

Thank you for the response.
I'm not sure if the lack of response at 2000-3000 RPM is just due to stock configuration or is a problem. It has always had it as long as I've owned the car. It is unfortunately an automatic and it seems as though it should downshift on hills at that RPM and it won't unless I intervene.

Automatics are voodoo to me.
I know some people have gotten Level 10 to work on their auto-Ts. I don't know if it was just for power handling or to change their shift points or what.
I don't know if the JWT ecu could/would change shift points or not.
Sorry...
