Hi Everyone,

Well, as you can tell im haveing problems with my Pulsar NX XE. It has the 1.6 single overhead cam engine. When the engine is cool, it will run perfectly. After the engine warms up, it will stall out when the rpm reaches 2500. As soon as the rpm's drop below 2500 it will start again. It will also idle fine when warm. my cars been down for 9 weeks now and all my gas/money is going into my silverados gas tank. My mechanic cant figure it out, and i have no idea. when he hooked his comp to it it kicked back the crank angle sensor and the mass air flow sensor. Has anyone had this problem before, or know what to do? we did try to clean the mass airflow sensor. Thanks

MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR

YOU SHOULDNT CLEAN YOUR MASS AIR SENSOR. THAT IS WHAT IS PROBABLY CAUSING IT. THE ELECTRICAL PARTS GET GUNCKED UP AND DONT WORK GOOD. TRY A NEW ONE FROM NISSAN (NOT AUTO ZONE OR ANY OTHER AFTERMARKET.) OR GET ONE OUT OF THE JUNK YARD.

i did misadjust it last time , it stall when i reach 2500 rpm (with light throttle only), but run fine below 2500rpm and with more than half throttle...it run good after i re-adjust it
btw i`m using E15E engine

SENSOR

IT DOES HAVE AN ELECTRIC ONE. ARE YOU REFFERING TO A SCREW THAT ADJUSTS THE IDLE. IF YOU ARE I CAN LOOK FOR THE CORRECT ADJUSTMENT. IF NOT ONE OF THOSE SENSORS COULD BE DONE. THEY ARENT TOO CHEAP BUT I CAN HELP YOU IF YOU NEED ANY ONE OF THOSE.

i`m refer to the switch (i think it has 3 wires on it) is attach somewhere just beside the throttle butterfly valve. it can sense wide open throttle, 0 throttle, and with throttle. if this is the only the problem, just adjust back to factory setting.

2500 rpm, sounds like a mass air flow sensor

Mass air flow sensor

I seem to be having the same problem. Once the rpm's reach twenty five hundred the fuel seems to cut out and drop like a rock. It never completely stalls out, it just will not allow you to go above that rpm. The code I'm getting off my ecu is Mass Airflow Sensor. So I'm looking for a new/used one at the junk yard. However mine doesn't do this all the time it seems to be very intermittent. Sometimes I can drive for a month with no problems and sometimes it's every trip. I did notice that once I started having this problem my fuel mpg went way down and now I'm only getting about 22 mpg.

The throttle position sensor is located right next to the mass airflow sensor. It is mounted on the passenger side of the throttle body and the butterfly shaft is the actuator for it. The sensor mounts are slotted and it is adjustable. You'll need a multimeter to set it. I'm sure the procedure is in the chilton/hayes manual or just do a search on this forum. Another source of info is the autozone repair guides.
There is someone here in my town that has a mass airflow sensor that I'm trying to acquire. When I do get one I will repost my results here.

UPDATE!!!

The Mass Air Flow Sensor, or Air Flow Meter as Nissan calls it was the issue. I replaced the meter about 3 months ago and have had no issues since.

Silentcorey,
mine did exactily the same thing, except for the fact that i went from 40-50 MPG to 20. after replaceing the sensor im back at 40MPG high. i suspect my engine is running very lean to get such milages however. One issue i do currently have now that i replaced the sensor is a very high engine idle speed. Good luck finding the sensor, i picked one up on E-Bay for 50 dollars.

Finnaly, thanks to all who offered insight and knowledge they had on this issue, helped me out of a real jam.
