Dead batt. No chime?

i got a 95 sentra base... plain jane (with some upgrades) and the chime works when the door is opened with the key in the ignition, also it works with the lights on with no key, but beeps faster.

I have a 97 and same here. I only chimes with lights on if the door is open or the key is out. That is normal.
No chime at all is not normal.
You probabally didn't notice the chime if you open and close the door quickly but it's not like "loud" or anything.
