My gas gauge has started acting weird. I thought at first that it was the sending unit in the tank but now I am thinking that it is the gauge itself. As the gauge is dropping from using fuel it will sometime go to full and sit there. I have tapped the intsrument panel and it will fall back I assume to where it is supposed to be. Anybody else have this problem?

Pull the sending unit out of the tank and put an ohmeter on it,then simply watch the resistance radings as you go from empty to full with the travel of the sender. I'm not sure what the reading is but it should be relitivly gradule and be repeated. If not put a sender in. If it's gauge you can always hit the bone yard for a replacment....
