Anyway get out the voltimeter and check the maf sensor, tps, front 02 sensor. Check for any error codes from the ecu. Do a good look over of everything to see if anything is out of place or leaking.

Is it getting a good spark? The spark may be good enough for the engine to idle OK, but not strong enough to ignite the larger amounts of fuel necessary to build speed. When my alternator died, my car idled fine but completely lost power while it was in 1st or 2nd gear. The battery doesn't provide as much voltage as the alternator, so the spark was good enough to idle but not sufficient to accelerate.
