I am sure I will get flamed but at least add some input first lol. My first post, so here goes..
Finally got a clean title to my '97 SE last week. It needs some interior pieces so in looking for them locally I found a guy that has a '96 Se R (wrecked) with almost every piece I need. The car still fires up and there is no damage to the drive train!!!! I got it today for $500.00.
Ok now to the point, I have a ’97 1.6 (manual) so now that I have a complete Se R (Automatic) what all will I need to match this engine to my car. They are both B14 frames but can I still use my 5speed on the ’96 2.0?

Also please add your input on light/moderate engine upgrades while I have it pulled out of the car.

And a final note, I will be more than glad to part out any unused items from either car to the forum.

So did I get a good deal for $500.00 or am I still going to be out of pocket too much?

Thank, Greg

Oh before I get questions about fixing the Se R to drive, it is KO'ed big time on the LH front. Looks like a SUV/truck hit it because the Wheel is untouched but the Fender, door, hood, and strut tower are demolished. The frame/body crashed at the strut tower is what looks to be the most damage. What ever hit the car gashed it; there is no material below where the strut tower is caved in. Looks like someone took the Jaws-of-Life and chiseled away most of the metal. If anyone here thinks this is fixable please let me know and I will look into it. I can post picture to show the severity of the damage.

Thanks, Greg

I kind of know that but it's all there right? Everything I need accept a Manual trany for the 2.0? The axels should be the same (out of the wrecked 2.0 auto trany) as the ones for a manual one right? So far on the shopping list is a 2.0 Manual trany?????

Anyone else got any input?

What about engine mods?

well you will have to check but i dont think the axles for an auto and manual are interchangeable, ie different ?
yes if you have a donor it will all be there, harness etc but you are talking about an auto to manual swap for the SR20 as well, i think you should search for info on this, it may involve stuff you dont have beyond the trans ie mounts you dont have, shifter assembly etc....

decide on what your goal is HP wise, then move to that goal.
Since i want 250 -280 HP eventually i will aim at turbo, and so not get headers, exhaust that's too small, and work towards that goal.
If you want 160 or so the simple NA and exhaust and cams, 200 then go VE.
But that's just my opinion.....and i haven't started on the SE-R yet....so what i think doesn't count....Yet...
