What up? I know this may be similar to a somewhat recent post, but i feel like i am asking somewhat of a different question. Is it possible to make an Auto GA16 fast?

possible yes costly yes. you can bolt the turbo kits and all that up to it but there is a problem with burning up the transmission you would have to get it rebuilt to hold that power. i havent looked too mutch into it but i was reading a thread about a guy talking about turboing his automatic and its looking like a NAY till he gets it rebuilt. but you can do the basic boltons that are out there and get a respectible gain out of it

Enough to beat like a prelude with an engine swap(not sure what engine) and other mods?

eh not sure on that part. i was told atleast my 5speed ga16de stock vs f22e i think it is. the 2.2L sohc that it would be neck and neck. but i never did find out blew up my motor. i do kno that between atuomatic and standard the standards have a pretty good advantage over the automatic due to the gear ratio my guess

ya i was wondering about shifting up from 1 to 2 to drive. ive done it before with a stock engine and the only advantage that i felt was i could feel boost at like 5 or 6 grand. Would that do anything?

first of i hope your running this prelude at the track. and 2nd while its in drive its should shift most gears about 6250 wich is where my auto shifted. but with the vtc system on our cars if your rpm goes too high you start losing power i shift right at 6250 so by time i shift into another gear its still pulling stong. the only thing putting it in drive 1 and 2 is holding it in that gear so the rpm are higher. i use to do it so it would sound like i had a standard lol SHUTUP EVERYONE yall probably did it too lol

If you really want to build a car for drag racing, at least in our case, you want a 5 speed. James had a turbo on his auto and the clutches didn;t like it too much. It is pretty costly to build an auto. I'd have to say that youd need nitrous or turbo to keep up with a swapped honda of some sort.

You shold do a search and research James' turbo auto experience.

if i were you i would never talk about taking it to the street. everyone here frowns on it. thats why my reputation isnt at 100 any more cause i posted questions about street racing. so if thats the case i would just keep that to your self

very true, the H23 is rated at 160 hp but i believe 120 torque
The H22A is a total beast- 195 hp and quick as all hell, trust me
Though one of my friends blew his H23 and he swapped in a JDM F22 Accord motor, he said when hes done it should be quicker than the H22 when he has the regular bolt one.

Also dont discuss street racing or else youll get in trouble.....

Yeah, from what I've read on these forums the manual transmission for the GA16DE is the best base to build a "fast" sentra on. For an Auto, and for what I'm gonna do, the best things you could do without messing around too much would be weight reduction and some bolt on stuff like a CAI and an exhaust system.

These automatics are FRAGILE. I agree, the best place to start on our engine is a five speed. An unbuilt automatic is going to go out very quick with turbo, NOS, or both. People have gotten performance torque converters, and I am surprised that no one has brought up Level 10 here. You can build an automatic to shift quicker than a 5-speed and shift at higher RPMs, and thats a big help on a straight run if thats all you want it for. As for all around performance and CONTROL, 5-speed is just better. But hey, work with what you got, just be easy on the GA16's auto tranny.

Yes 5 speed is better but i dont think you are giving the auto ga tranny any credit. It took about 3 months on stock H.S. boost to blow your auto tranny, more or less. I was at a 50 shot and now at a 75 shot always racing and spraying from a dig. My auto clutch packs are not even sliping yet and ive been on bottle for almost a year now. The only problem ive had has been axels and that solved now do to the change in mounts. i would recomend a tranny cooler for anything thats not N/A

No neutral drops ever!

and when racing i always shift at redline and and always upshift and no adverce affects.

Yes, just call up Level 10, and open up your wallet to the tune of about $4K  , and you will have a transmission that is basically bulletproof, and will shift faster than a manual.

automatics=crap

however...a level10 transmission equipped car can be faster than a manual car because you can never really miss a shift. you also will run way more consistent times at the track. Lew(lshadoff) has a level10 transmission on his 200sx....granted its an sr20...but its boosted.
