My service engine light came on my 01 Pathfinder the other day and I ran the computer and it came up with PO440 which was and evap vent malfunction. I did some research and Im guessing it has something to do with the gas cap and breather vavle. In 2001 there is a recall on the filler tube so im taking it to the dealer tommorow to get the recall taken care of.

Question: Do you think that getting the recall taken care of will solve this problem?

If Not what is the most likely cause of the malfunction?
It is an extensive process and expensive to test the whole evap system.:wtf:

The filler tube recall WON'T take care of your CEL problem.

You might have a stuck open/closed vent control valve, attached to the carbon canister?

where is that located on the truck? Is it easy to fix?

After i got the recall taken care of I deleted the code and it hasnt come back on yet for over a day so maybe it fixed itself.

is that valve easy to take out and clean? If i do clean it would that make my light go off?
