How much does the GA16 weigh, also, is there a site or some source where I can find the weights of any others engines, is there some sort of database of engine weights?

I think the GA16DE is about 80lbs. for the motor itself, not including manifold or anything like that. Myself and another person were able to lift it up. The GA16DE Auto tranny weighs about 60lbs. (It sux going through stock engine swaps, 2nd time now!)

CarbonBlack200 I agree with you, I know for a fact (cause I've done the magnet test, and I've been through enough GA16DE warranty problems) that the GA16DE has an Aluminum Head and an Iron Block. I'll post the link that states that information if people still don't believe us.

I stand corrected... thx for the info, Carbon. Now I am starting to wonder. This link right HERE states that the GA block is both iron and aluminum, and that the SR and QR blocks are all aluminum. Hmmm!

Don't feel bad, dho... we still love you. And believe you. :D
Thanks, I feel better now :) Hey everyone, I've had this question on my mind ever since I knew there was a GA16DE and a SR20DE: Why don't SR20 people like the GA16? The GA16 has VTC and it has an iron block vs the SR20 US that does not have VTC and it's all aluminum. If the GA16DE was enforced with better connecting rod bolts, piston coolers, pistons, poly/swain coatings, JWT cams, wouldn't it be stronger/more durable/a flatter, stronger powerband/more powerful (if turbo'd, built, SuperCharged, or NOS'd) than the aluminum SR20 block? What do ya'll think?

We're sliding off topic here... but briefly, I think it is because the SR20DE is the same as the DET persay. There has also been much more data and positive results from the SR over the GA. It has been proven from Kojima that the GA motor can provide the power to the ground... it's just a matter of time to see what steps are taken.
