Have '91 pickup w ka24e. Any ideas about which emission controls can be disengaged and engine still run ok? It's on its last legs and can't afford to even have professional diagnostics done let alone start replacing numerous ancient parts. Thx, RJ

As long as your state doesn't require emission testing, for your '91 pickup which had more simpler emission controls, the removal of the catalytic converter is the most single improvement of performance. I would leave the other emission control devices in place. Just remember, it's illegal by federal law to remove emission control devices.

I guess the first question is if the engine is running properly. If it is, there is no need to remove or disable any of them. Most of these controls are there for a reason other than just for lower emissions. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
