I have a 2002 Nissan Xtrail T30. So a little while ago I was at work and went to get into my car and it would crank but not start. I had to turn the ignition on but not start 5 times before it would start. the ECU light was still coming on and I put scanner on it and it said to change the Variable valve Timing solenoid. So I did and and I also changed the cam sensor and crank sensor as well. As I had read in these forums before that those could also be the cause of crank but not start. So after I changed all those and cleared the engine codes it did not start at all still cranks and the Ecu light does not come on when I first put the key into ingnition. It will start if I sit there and turn the key ignition to accessories and back off maybe 20 or 30 times. I have checked all the fuses I have checked all the relays I have checked the earth points have checked the ECU to see if there was any broken or lose wires but nothing. I got an auto electrician to look at it to he told me to trade it in. It seems to be an intermittent problem as the car starts sometimes but not always. Only in the last 6 months I have also replaced the timing chain the starter motor and the fuel pump as well. Any help would be appreciated. If you need any further information and ill provide it. Thanks.

When replacing sensors, always use Nissan OEM parts from a Nissan dealer; aftermarket electronic items generally are not reliable, don't last long, and many times are DOA. The sensors are not very expensive; around $120. Inspect the harness connectors on all the sensors for any oxidation or loose connections. Insure that any water resistant connector is in good condition; if the seals have been compromised, then any water intrusion can cause intermittent problems.
