I know that the only way to go on aftermarkey ECU's is JWT, but what should i get? I'm honestly thinking about going turbo in the future, but i want to spend some money on an ECU now.
That's exactly what I did. I got all the bolt-ons including cams and had JWT reprogram the ECU. Then, when I went turbo, I had JWT reprogram for the turbo, taking into account the other mods. Each change after the original is $100.Terran200sx said:well i'm going to be putting in new cams, UR pulleys, a CAI, headers, before i ever go turbo. Turbo is way down the line, although it is a serious consideration.
Every bolt-on except a header can be used in a turbo setup. I even used my PR CAI to make a CAI for the turbo.nizzan4u2nv said:If youre really going turbo, just save your money for that. Start collecting parts now instead of buying things you arent gonna use later. Trust me, been there done that. No use wasting money, car parts are far from investments.
Bascially what i was planning to do, with the exception of the cam's coming earlier.lshadoff said:Every bolt-on except a header can be used in a turbo setup. I even used my PR CAI to make a CAI for the turbo.
I started by upgrading the brakes and suspension before I did engine mods. Then I added exhaust and intake when I could afford them since they don't require an ECU modification. I got the JWT ECU when I installed the cams.

Thing is, you need to know what youre getting into before you do it. That stromung exhaust you have on your list isnt really optimal for a turbo setup because it comes with 2.25 in piping. You also need to what cams go well with what every turbo setup you plan on running. There are cams like C6 and S5 that have way too much overlap for a turbo setup, but are big na cams that make serious power. Even then it still makes no use to buy a header you arent gonna use, especially if you buy it new IMHO. My advice is to just do it right the first time, saves you from headaches and cost way less in the long run.Terran200sx said:Bascially what i was planning to do, with the exception of the cam's coming earlier.
