I just picked up an 1988 Pulsar NX with the 1.6l sohc and carbureted. Sure as hell didn’t know what I was getting into. I’m pretty sure the E16 non-turboed. I blew the head gasket on it and took the head off to replace it. I noticed a pretty big divot in the head and my machine shop said it’s junk. I can’t find another head for it under a grand and I’m looking at around trying to hit 150 horsepower once all is done. My question is this: Should I buy a rebuilt E16 and turbo it or should I swap it out for something else?
