My SO’s 2006 pathfinder rear driver’s side door occasionally will not open. The electric locks appear to be ‘working’, ie they click within the door mechanism when activated from the driver’s front seat door unlock button. But when you pull the handle to open the rear door, nothing happens. No sound indicating the mechanism is trying to open the door, nothing. This problem only happens occasionally, and then after a time, the door opening mechanism functions normally.

Any ideas from the collective?

Make sure the child safety lock isn't engaged, first. Next, you would have to remove the door panel and inspect it. The latch assembly is cable operated, if I remember correctly. I also believe it only comes as a latch assembly with the cables, not individual parts.

Well, now that the weather is warmed up, the door is working flawlessly again. I wonder if it’s worth taking the door panel off for a closer look?
