Ok so the cruise light will come on on the dash but it will not activate by the steering wheel control. I have done the hold the dash button and push the steering wheel thing to check the computer and the light on the cluster then flashes. Any ideas. I have checked the vacuum hose and all seems to be fine.

if you have a manual transmission, did you check the clutch pedal switches? there are those rubber pads that the switch contacts. over time, the pads deteriorate and the switch would not be pressed, canceling any cruise control setting. same goes for automatics, but that goes on the brake pedal. it's more noticeable because the brake lights would be on all the time.

That was it. The switch located in that wonderful spot near the steering column had a broken bump stop. I replaced it and it works great. Thanks for the help, I would have been under the hood for hours trying to get that unit off the inner fender/firewall.
