A friend of mine has a car in storage since early fall and wants it back on the road for the late spring. He's changed the motor oil just before taking it off the road. Since the engine has been sitting for a good 6 months or so, what's the best way to keep the engine from getting all scraped up since all the lube is at the bottom of the oil pan?

Start it up and let it run for 5 minutes then change the oil or open up the valve cover and pour some oil on the cylinder head?
