I'm trying to pull the codes from my 1994 XE 4x4 4Cyl but as far as i can tell, this is done via a blinking check engine light....Well i don't see anything resembling a check engine light come on when i follow the procedure specified to check for codes....

I don't even see the light come on briefly when i turn the car on....Should it? what does it look like?

Turn the ignition switch to 'ON' without starting the truck. The "CHECK ENGINE' light should show up somewhere in the instrument cluster if it's not burnt out.

Yeah i only see battery and brake lights when i turn the ignition to ON. How much of a pain in the butt is it to change the light?

Some models without CA emissions do not come with a Check Engine light. You have to watch the LED's on the ECU to check error codes.

I took my cluster out and there was a bulb there but the contacts weren't that great...I cleaned it up and now the light comes on when i turn the ignition on. Let's see if i can read any codes now. Thanks for the help!
