OK, i first noticed a problem when i was idling at a red light on a hill, the car was running fine then shut off. I immediately turned it back on and it ran fine. A week later i was driving on the freeway at 75mph and the car slowed down to 40mph, putting the petal to the metal it went no faster but felt as if it was trying to (it was kinda jerking forward). I pulled to the side and the car shut off. the ignition would turn but the car would not start. After waiting about 7mins the car turned on just fine and I drove about 50miles home with no problems. Now the car seems to randomly shut off then i wait 5mins and turn it back on, sometimes it can go a few days without problems at all.

At first i thought it was over heating because coolant levels were low but that was not the case, the fans work and the meter never goes hot. I was also told it could be the distributor, faulty fuel pump, timing belt, or spark plugs. I thought i would ask here where to start looking.

Update

just checked the Distributor and rotation, the O ring was damaged but oil was not inside the cap or hindering any of the connections. I cleaned off some of the corrosion and burn marks inside the cap.

Ill check the fuel filter and injector next. until then.
