my exhaust manifold cracked at the first joint right where it meets the pipe to the back. unweldable. replacement exhaust manifold w/ california emissions is $600 plus (i hear it's got a catalytic converter in it?).

so here's my question - i live in jersey and i have no need for cali emissions regs. can i swap it out for a standard federal emissions manifold which costs significantly less? will it fit and will it effect anything besides emissions, which i would hopefully still pass?

does the federal manifold have the same tube that runs behind the engine?

please, i need this solved asap. i'm huffing fumes up while driving and making too much damn noise!!

The federal exhaust manifold bolts right up, but you will need a different downflow pipe to connect the manifold to your catalytic converter (the one under the firewall). The EGR tube might also be different, I don't know off hand.
