i have been a loyal fan of the b12 sentra for a long time. My first car was a 90 sentra, but after totaling it i managed to find an 89 sentra e which i am still driving. I am new here and sure these ?s have been asked before but anyway

1. I have found a ca18de motor for about 200 dollars. is it worth it to put it in, and what do i need besides just the motor or will all the existing parts work. any advice on putting the motor in is also gladly welcomed

2. I see a lot of body kits on the pictures in here, and a couple on the road, where can i go about getting one or is it even possible

thanks for any info, this place is like the heaven ive been looking for

If you're interested in this swap, then pay close attention to what's needed. From a 1988 nissan pulsar SE you'll need: Tranny, flywheel, all mounts and bolts, shifter & linkage, gas pedal, throttle cable, wiring harness to include engine and car portion, radiator, pulsar fuel pump, instrument cluster has to be modified and it takes some skill at doing it because you'll also need the 1987-89 sentra GXE or SE cluster as well. It sounds like alot, but once you've installed this motor you won't be sorry. Be sure to check the compression of this pulsar engine and make sure it's from an 88 pulsar and not 89. The 1989 CA18DE's were decompressed and that sucks. Have fun..................... :D

Mounts! Start out with a fresh set of mounts. There is no welding required for this swap so don't worry. If you're going to do it yourself, you'll have fun and get some headaches, but I won't let you fail. The finished product will be O-S--Sweet.....

boost_boy, Can you post some pics of your Sentra (either one I guess). I am also interested with the CA18DET swap because it will be a direct bolt-on to my Pulsar but like the CA18DE which known for many problems (coilpack, CAS) it might not as reliable compare to the SR20DE, according to many Pulsar owners. I would like to know how reliable is the CA18DET compare to the CA18DE? I know the DET is much stronger coz it is meant for boost, but anything else(difference)? Also how accessible(availabilty) the parts for it? What to look for when shopping for one? Sorry too many questions. Thanks!!! :)

No man, you're not asking too many questions; as a matter of fact fire away. I have many CA18DET parts and the jap spec parts seem to hold up longer. I've never had a coil pack take a crap on me with every DET I've purchased. I've busted pistons, but that's about it. Can't hurt the block, crank and rods even at 25 psi. It all comes down to fuel. Hey man, 1989sentra is already interested in one engine I have so if you're interested you can take dibbs on the other. One has a stock turbo, one has an upgraded turbo that I used to boost to 22psi. I'm not trying to seel you anything, just trying narrow your options and searches. For you the swap wouldn't be so bad because your car is set up. I also have 2 JWT 1988 nissan pulsar ECU's eprommed and set up for the maxima's AFM. They each cost me $599 minus the AFM, so if you're interested, I'll let them go for a reasonable price. I have 6 CAS's and 8 coil packs on rails. Do the swap, you won't regret it and people can watch your license plate until you disappear.

Thanks boost_boy, but I live in Canada, toofar away to ship a CA18DET. Im just going to keep looking and find myself either a CA18DET or an SR20DET. Iam gonna need your expertise when I do the actual swap. BTW can I do the swap (CA18DET) in my garage? I have alot of tools and a compressor. Only thing I do not have is a engine stand and the hoist to lift the engine. It does not mean I will not get one if necessary. Thanks again.

You can rent engine hoists, a friend has done it before.

You can actually do the swap in your garage or anywhere you want. I did both of my cars at my sisters house with a standard mm socket set (10-19mm) with the addition of a 32mm for the cv axle nuts. If you need anything, don't hesitate to rattle my cage.
