well, the inevitable has happened- I blew it up using nitrous- oops, so my question is- I have a b13- if I get a newer ga16de from a b14 will it work ok with my maf and ecu- I have no idea why it wont- Im buying the WHOLE engine here- intake, valve cover and all- all im using is my wiring harness- it even has an alternator! but I remember someone telling me that the b14 is like- not too much different but different enough to matter- so can someone who knows please let me know before I accept the b14 motor that I should be sticking a b13 motor in?- and if I wanted to switch to an sr I would, so dont bother trying to convince me..later everyone...thanks in advance for the advice

the throttle body is down the intake pipe instead of against the intake manifold on the b13.the b13 has different cam spec...and imnot sure if you can use the same ecu or not.

the throttle body is the in the same position for the ga16de for b13s and b14s. swapping a newer motor in shouldnt be that hard to do. i think an obdII motor has a couple more sensors than an obdI. u should compare the harnesses (ecu/engine) of both models to make sure it'll plug in. it probably will.....

good luck

you'll probably need the ecu, since the b14s are OBDII versus OBDI

its running me a wopping 675! But it is from a local place here in ft myers and it has a 1 year warranty. It wont be in there that long since im going to rebuild the one with the melted piston. I can bore that over to 1.8 right? Im just mad though- I put my fogger as far south as it would go so the nitrous could spread evenly. I was using colder plugs, guess I shouldve hooked up a fuel solenoid--live and learn. Im not gonna switch to the sr20, thatll move me up in the class I autocross in and I simply dont have the money to buy the tranny and the ecu and the wiring harness, I spent too much on the suspension and everything else for autoxing. That silly ass apexi rsm etc etc etc etc......so a ga is what is going back in. Besides, when you can kick the crap out of guys with sr20s? How cool is that. So the swap is happening this weekend on sat. Is anyone so familiar with the two different ga's that they can tell me about the different sensor and whatnot- The one that I ordered has 65,000 miles on it, which is and isnt alot for that motor. The one I melted Im hoping to have done in a month or so. The way we planned in out with the machine work involved and whatnot- Im not gonna need any nitrous this time......but im still gonna use it, I'll just use the multi-port system this time:eek:

Damn Todd! You could have gotten a newer JDM delivered to your door for half that price and with half that mileage! Oh well, you're still a lot cheaper than what a garage would charge you.

You can't run nitrous without adding the extra fuel required. Anyway, If you try to put the B14 engine in the B13, the EFI harnesses are quite different. You will have lot's of problems, and a check engine light that will NEVER go off! Be smart, put the right year engine in the car,

i think that you should stay with a b13 engine because it is obdI

SCCA allows cars with nitrous here, I think you just have to remove the bottle from the car though. As for the engine, a b13 version will be less of a hassle since it doesn't have as much emissions equipment as the b14 version.

have complete ga16de

Just happened to be reading through some of the old posts to see that you were trying to fnd a motor. I've got a complete (engine, harness, ECU) GA16DE with all of the sensors, connectors, etc..intact that I'm looking to sell if interested, e-mail and lets cut a deal. Motor is out of a 94 SE that had just at 85k on it. [email protected]
