Anybody have any good tips on keeping up the finish of our one stage paint jobs?
iI get very tired of everytime i wash my car having to wax or buff the paint just for it to shine.
I have taken exceptional care of my paint, i baught my car new with 25 miles on it, and the paint looks like pooo. I have buddies that run a car wash, and have wash my car at least once a week, and waxed it every other month. Now it looks like i wet sanded my car everytime i wash it. I think the only thing i can do now is bust out the ol paint gun, and shoot me a good 3 or 4 coats of clear on it.

The lighter colors will last longer anyways. My fathers 94 nissan 4x4 that was that dark grey color had the same problem-----after two years the paint was dulling out. But fro what I heard through the grape-vine that nissan does not use lead in their paint anymore so the paint does nto last as long. I dunno that is just what I heard ---do not hold me for that or flame me out.

Same here My 97 plat/gold 200sx Se-r with factory painted side mirrors are getting really bad---there are spots now where you cn see the bottom layer. Now even my spoiler is dulling and I wax every month with pure mothers pure carnuba wax with no cleaners. So I knowit is not frm waxing all the time. As far as for the rest of the car the paint is good.

Dont ever bring up Meguires and all those other waxes infront of my dad!!!
He has a Pontiac grand am GT (booo) and his car has the best shine I have ever seen on a car. His Paint looks incredible.
anyway, he told me to go to www.ZanoBros.com
and order wax stages 1 and 5... Guys, trust me, if you want better than "show car shine" check out this wax..

use a clay bar 1st..that really helps the paint take the polish.then polish it at will, then seal with your favorite wax...

I have heard nothing but good about Zaino Bros..a lil pricey to buy everything..but it is like glass...

I have tries just about every sugestion you guys have thrown at me and it works, but only untill i was my car again then it comes right back. As for black paint in general, it is a good color to get as long as you take great care of it. Nissan black paint thoe sucks period, every black nissan i have seen has this same problem. I thinks it is due to the painting process that nissan uses. I believe that they use a single step paint (base coat and clear coat all in one shot).

So i decided to go ahead and see if the base coat was still good on my car, enough so i can just wet sand it and then throw a good coat of clear over it. I taped off my driverside fender, gave it a good wet sanding, not too far down thoe to keep the black base coat. Then i mixed up some good clear, and gave it a couple of coats. WOW what a difference, look brand spanking new. The only problem i had was a got a couple of pits and a fish eye due to the windy conditions i was painting in. So ill wet sand them out then cut and polish it to an awesome shine. One of these days ill get aroung to finishing up the rest. Probablly really soon, if my work allows me too........
