scenario: drove 5-6 full bed loads of firewood from wood to cabin up a descent incline snow covered in 4wh low never got above 15mph.

Problem: went to town to get other supplies and etc. drive was about 20 miles one-way in 4wh high at speed limit 45 i would get a funky vibration the a pop like feel the steering would jerk felt like its mostly on the right side. pulled into parking spot could feel front wheels bid up straightened out truck slight incline in neutral truck didn't move. backed up truck drove straight into spot in neutral the truck rolled backwards. never had this problem before moving the wood. the lockouts are from a 89 (replaced before winter) the original lockouts for my truck would not move. any suggestion would be helpful. o also it does not pop when taking off or getting up to speed only does it when at a constant speed. sometimes its a soft pop other times its a hard pop and changes sides periodically.

lock your hubs and crawl under the front end and twist the half shaft to see if there is any play in the tripot joints. other than that, drop the frt diff cover and inspect the carrier. does it only do this in 4wd? or with just the hubs locked?
