Armrest removal

I just purchased a 2018 Sentra SR that needs the driver`s door armrest cover replaced. Has anyone done this before? Nissan parts diagrams do not show that the armrest is removable but that makes no sense. I am not afraid to disassemble the door panel but is it necessary to access the armrest? I assume I could release some tabs to pop the armrest out. If so, where approximately are they located? I ask only to prevent the possibility of doing further damage.
Thank you all for any insight.

On late models like your '18 the armrest cushion is part of the panel assembly and not sold separately. They're usually plastic-riveted to the panel, so if you're replacing it using a used or junkyard part, it will probably need to be drilled loose and the replacement glued in.

Wow! That's an unfortunate design choice! There are eBay and etsy stores selling covers but there's no good way to install them!
No, just use a nasty adhesive like Permatex Ultra Gray and make sure you use alcohol on the mating surfaces. If you can get the replacement cover from aftermarket, installing it shouldn't be a big deal. I don't have a Sentra door panel here to look at, but maybe you'll even get lucky and find it screwed on instead of riveted.
