I just got a new Alpine head unit for my 2003 SE-R Spec-V. I am replacing the aftermarket head unit that came with the car when I bought it. There is already a CD player installation kit in place but it doesn't work very well. It looks just like the one that crutchfield sells. It has the 2 wings on the sides that attach to the head unit and the front cover. The front cover doesn't seem to fit very well. The CD player doesn't actually fit into the hole. With everything put back together the front face of the CD player only folds down part way. I have read about others having the same problems with the scosche brand kits. I am assuming that mine is a scosche since I'm having the same issue.

I could trim the kit a little so that my CD player fits better but I think what I really need to do is slide the CD player out a little bit so that the CD player trim piece will fit on top of the installation kit, thus giving it a factory-esque look.

What are my options here? Is there an installation kit out there that doesn't suck?
