Dealer checked out my 03 Altima 3.5 and says they have had some problems with the mass air sensor caused by aftermarket air filters. My filter is by Purolator I think. Looks just like the Nissan filter. Any thoughts on this dealer opinion? I guessing they may have had some problems caused by oily K&N filters or modified intake parts.

The problem with some AM filters is that they don't fit "snugly and tight" in the airbox, so some dirt and debris gets past this area and hits the hot wire of the MAF sensor, damaging it.

I've had a K&N drop in for about 6 years. No issues and i have the 02 with the piss poor mafs. I think the problems occur when people clean and reoil them......over oil them
