so ive been wanting to do the timing advance deal for the ga16de and i never really ran the high gas cause i didnt need to but i filled up on 92 and went home to do the timing, i had someone tell me step by step and it was already advance to 15. 111121 <-----the 1's are the marks on the crank pulley and the 2 is where my pointer is pointing whil in timing mode that is if your looking from the front of the car. ive never heard a ping or anything before. WTF? plus what ngk plugs should i be using , i got the v power ones but i dont kno if they are the best. let me know what you think about this deal.

Timing

Are you sure that the marks are 111121? looking from the front. It's advanced alright TDC on the 1.6 GAmotor is 121111 looking from the front. 15 Degrees....... You should run the ninety two, or do like I did and I found some close out priceing at the Auto Store on Octane boost for 1 dollar abottle. I bought all they have and keep it stored. I buy the 87 octane and put a bottle in every fill up. Same thing.. Just an idea. Every penny counts!!

Plugs

NGK run abit hot, butI think they are pretty good. I have ran them. I use Bosch platinums now and have had good luck. Well until a few weeks ago. Car died at 127K I have tried many things and have post of my own up for "Cry for help". Still will not run. Cranks, but no run. I'm sure I will figure it out. Good luck.

STAY AWAY FROM BOSCH anything unless its an O2 sensor!! NGK's are perfect. I dont know what nolan64 meens by they run hot. But NGK's are what you should be running and what Nissans like.

I always used NGK with no probs, until last year when I had 2 sets foul way to quick, I switched to Bosch on a friends advise and they have been great. Beats me

well i have ngks now but why do peeps say ur car will have detonation? mine doesnt do anything, maybe i have a weak/stressed timing chain???

wow. thats really the worst idea ever. that stuff dosent do anything, wellllll i have heard that it may raise it 1 point. but thats a bad idea.

THE OEM (I.E. DEALERSHIP PLUGS) ARE THE ABSOLUTE BEST FOR OUR CARS.

what? timing chain has nothing to do with it, the chain controls the exhaust/intake (camshaft) timeing. what you are doing is playing with the ignition timing. and detonation is when there is a hot spot in a cylinder and the fuel detonates prematurely. <not good)
