2003 Altima 3.5SE 100K miles:

We've owned the car since 60K, done all the maintenance on it myself except at around 70K the serpentine belt broke on the road. The Nissan dealership diagnosed it as a bad A/C clutch which blew the belt, compressor, and a hose.. So now I have a nasty rattling coming from the compressor. I've been listening to it for the past few months as it comes and goes trying to get a grasp of what it is. Now thats its cold, it does it all the time. Needless to say I don't want to pay for another compressor. Do any of you guys experienced this? I wondering if the compressor is just low on oil.

It rattlles bad when its cold or at idle, at speed it typically goes away.
