I am preparing to replace the rear brakes on my wifes 98 sentra gxe. The Nissan manual says to thread 2 bolts into a couple of holes in the drum to remove it. Is this really necessary or can I just pull the drum off with my hands like I used to on the old cars?

Thanks in advance.

No you cannot just pull them off with your hands. Unless you have a pair vise-grips for hands..lol But for real, the only reason you need to use the bolts is to break them loose. Then you should be able to remove them.

And if you are having a real hard time getting the drums off...

Make sure no one applied the emergency brake. :)

It makes a funny story later but at the time its never funny. :)
