Hey all, I'm new to the site and to my car.

I had my car for a year and used my 4x4 on my 97 pathfinder last year for the first time during winter. From the get go, there was something funny with my 4x4. It started to knock, almost randomly when i was driving, more so when I was turning, but definetly even when driving slowly in a straight line. They are intermittend and continues to knock when I am in either 4 low or 4 hi, no such problems exist when I am in 2 wheels.

First..I need to use your great minds to find out the problem so that I can find the best solution. I was guessing the 'Gear Differential Box'?

Second..I need suggestions to solve it, i'm guessing my best luck is to take it to the Nissan dealer and give all my money and my first born to fix it. But i'm holding out hope!

THanks in advance

I agree with rabbit! It definately sounds like a CV joint. Look under the front end and out next to the wheel at the axle and see if the boot is busted and grease is everywhere. If so then that will more than likely be the culprit.
