Hello, I am looking at buying a 1996 200sx ser, and the owner said it had a broken clutch cable. I went to look at it and the cable looked fine, but the lever that comes out of the top of the trans is cracked, more then half way. It looks like a cast piece and who knows if it could be welded, and if that weld will hold for any length of time. The lever doesnt look removable, I would assume you would have to pull the trans. Any insight.

What do you think this car is worth? It silver, the front clip needs some work, dings and dents. Lowered (not sure of the brand), cams, injen intake, exhaust, stage 2 clutch, special edition sentra wheels, cross drilled rotors. Needs a stereo and aother odds and ends, 128k on the clock.

Thanks in advance.

Well if you have to pull the trans then its a new clutch as well.
My guess is about $1500 to $2000 depending on how bad the dents are (say $500 for the Clkutch arm/clutch and $500 off for the dents and paint.
In good shape these are 3000 private party sale.
You decide on the after market stuff.
remember irts worth $1000 as a right-off just for the parts GA to SR swap stuff.....

Yes that clutch arm comes out. I cannot tell you if it can be done in the car or not though. I just remember the guys on SR20forum seeing this as a weak point and intentionally beefing this up. Just like cryo and shot peen on the tranny case several members had their clutch arm reinforced by welding material to it. That was several years ago and that is all the more I can recall. Maybe that gives you something to search off of.

From what i read on the change from cable to hydraulic clutch actuator you must remove the transmission to remove / change the arm.
I can only tell you that for the GA transmission I worked on that is definitely the case
