I have a 95 Nissan truck. I will hopefully be getting a new truck soon, but until then I have a problem to fix.

I recently had to replace the tail light/brake light bulb on the left tail light. When I tested it though the brake filament in the bulb stayed on even though the brake was not pressed. I had never taken apart the bulb housing until this point and noticed that there is a small black wire that touches the metal and I'm guessing that's where the current comes from for the brake light to come on. I pulled out the black wire and the tail light works now, but I have no left brake light. When I touch the wire to the bulb housing the brake filament comes on.

So I'm not sure if this is something more serious with the wiring or perhaps it's just a fuse thing or a computer thing.
