ok, i have bought a '91 nissan HB truck. regular cab, short bed, 2WD, KA24. the reason i bought the truck was to use for a daily driver to save some gas while saving up the $$$ to put a SR20DET into it. i've finally found someone who has done it, and talked to them...so i know what all is needed to do the swap. a few weeks ago, i thought of another idea.

i dunno if its possible, and if it is...how many headaches will be involved, but if it could be made to work, i think it would be worth it. my idea is putting a RB26DETT(skyline motor) into the truck, but only if i can make the truck AWD. i know making it 4x4 wouldnt be hard....but i know the 4 wheel drive drivetrain would never hold up to a skyline motor(built to about 600-750HP) and hard launches on the street/strip. does anybody have any knowledge about wether or not it would be possible to transplant the drivetrain out of a skyline(R32-R34) into the HB truck chassis. i know it would involve a shitload of custom fabrication....but if it would work....it would def. be worth it. 750HP nissan truck with AWD traction....the sleeper of all sleepers. any info will be greatly appreciated.

You're on your own, man. Are you a lottery winner or something? Cause that's going to take a LOT of money and none of it is coming back out of the truck afterwards...

lol...i wish man. no, def not a lottery winner. i do have a lil spare cash and saving up more....enough i could do the SR20 swap in a few months. but about the skyline idea, if i can get solid info that it can be done...and i can find someone who can do it.....i'd gladly wait a few years to save up enuff to do it. basically...if i can transplant the skyline drivetrain....i'll do it. if not, i'm just gonna go with the SR20 since that'll pretty much be too much for the truck anyways

I am no expert but that sounds more like a case of dropping truck sheet metal on top of some other platform with the AWD and engine.

It would be noble and cool indeed. But I am afraid that the truck would never do justice to the Skyline power train. Trucks are simply a different breed. Now like 88offroadpath said, throwing a huge chunk of money at it a la Jay Leno could do the trick.

IMHO - I'd use the truck for a daily driver and find a sedan to build up with the AWD and Skyline mill. One could still have hella sleeper even if its not a truck.
