Could be.

I replaced the fluid of my 87, it was burnt and was nasty like mud, disconnected the hoses of the tranny and led it to a bucket, then I started the engine and let it drain. Meanwhile I was pouring new ATF into the dipstick until I see red fluid coming out. This requires 10L of new ATF.

This should extend your tranny life longer. Get a tranny cooler, Hayden 678 or 679 model works.
