Just wondering if the engine, ga16de is possible to bore from the 1.6 76mmx88mm to fit in the qg18de 1.8 80mmx88mm piston?
I understand both engine are at a compression ratio of 9.5:1.

M currently just on a ga15det with a Td04 turbo boosting at 0.7bar with stock internal.

no I don't think its possible.
So?? nobody else??, cause I was thinking of changing my GA16DS piston heads with the QG18DE ones too.

Do anybody knows is the connecting rods are the same on both engines so only the piston heads could be changed?? or if the GA16 cilinder walls could be bored to 80mm???

Thx in advance

The problem is the cylinder walls are thin. The 80MM pistons IMHO would remove too much material and make the cylinder walls much to thin to last.
Thx for your answer Wes

I've heard that GA16 cylinder walls are 10 mm thick, please correct me if I'm wrong, and to use 80mm pistons would result in 6 mm walls, is this to thin to last???...

Hi
Cyl walls could be 10 mm thick (havent measured them) but the problem I saw is the distance from cyl wall to the next cyl wall
Too small to think of boring it
Maybe 1 mm? How much would you gain? 77mm?
Stock is 1596cc and 1 mm bored would be 1638cc
Maybe in an all out config where you need all possible power
But for dailiy drivin, too much pain for a 42 cc increase in displacement (pistons, rings, block boring, ccing the cyl head to get the stock cr back...)
Peace

The other thing is where would you get a GA head gasket with bore diameters that big? :(
